Ingredients

  • Gelatin powder
  • Cold water
  • Granulated sugar
  • Hot water
  • Salt
  • Vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar or corn flour

Measurements

  • Gelatin powder - 30g
  • Cold water - 100ml
  • Granulated sugar - 250g
  • Hot water - 150ml
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Powdered sugar or corn flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, sprinkle gelatin powder over cold water. Allow it to sit and soften for about 10 minutes.
  • In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar and hot water. Stir over low heat until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  • Pour the sugar mixture into the bowl with the gelatin mixture. Add salt and vanilla extract.
  • Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on high speed for about 10-12 minutes until it becomes thick, fluffy, and forms stiff peaks.
  • Prepare a baking dish by greasing it with butter. Dust the surface with corn flour. I used corn flour because it is too sugary when using powdered sugar. You can also use powdered sugar. It's your choice.
  • Transfer the marshmallow mixture to the prepared baking dish. Smooth out the top with a spatula.
  • Let the marshmallows set at room temperature for about 4-6 hours or until firm. You can also refrigerate them for faster settings.
  • Once set, dust the clean surface with powdered sugar. remove the marshmallow block from the baking dish and place it on the corn flour or powdered sugar.
  • Cut the marshmallow into squares or use cookie cutters to create desired shapes. Dust all sides of each marshmallow to prevent sticking.
  • Store the marshmallows in an airtight container.
  • Enjoy your homemade marshmallows!

Note-: Homemade marshmallows can be stored for up to 2 weeks.
